Through a special arrangement with The Harry Fox Agency—the clearing house for nearly 80% of all published music—we’re able to apply for a mechanical download license for our member artists, as well as withhold and distribute the statutory license fee for a cover song.

This means you can finally record versions of other artist's songs and legally sell them to your fans online. This quick and easy way to sell cover songs is only available through MySongStore.

Current Rates

The statutory license rate is 9.1¢ for every copy you sell if the song in less than five minutes in duration. For songs longer than five minutes, the rate is 1.27¢ per minute. For example:

0:01 - 4:59 minutes = 9.1¢ per copy
5:00 to 5:59 minutes = 10.5¢ per copy (6 minutes x 1.75¢)
6:00 to 6:59 minutes = 12.25¢ per copy (7 minutes x 1.75¢)

In addition, MySongStore charges a flat one-half cent (0.5¢) per copy sold.

Please Note: The Harry Fox Agency oversees royalty payments for about 80% of non-public domain music.  If your cover song is not managed by Harry Fox Agency, then you will not be able to sell that song on our service, NO EXCEPTIONS ALLOWED, unless you get a mechanical download license directly from the publisher and you send us a PDF copy of the license.  MySongStore will be able to help you obtain the non-Harry Fox Agency mechanical download licenses on a case by case basis. However, it is up to the member artist to prove that they have a license to legally sell that cover song.
